Dining Room Project UPDATE!

13 Feb

Just thought I’d post my dining room project update tonight. I added a few new things over the weekend. Finally got some curtains that I really like. They remind me of the curtains that Julie Andrews made ‘play clothes’ with in The Sound of Music – haha! And I got really, really cute, cheap lamps that I love.

My new favorite part of the room though is the window that I found at the thrift shop. I painted it a burgundy, purple kinda color. And I painted it sloppy just so it kinda looked old and worn. I also glued on some fake flowers, which I think looks really cute.

I still have some stuff to clear out of the room and I’m still looking for the perfect pictures and stuff, so I know this room won’t be complete for awhile. Oh well, I’m having a lot of fun taking this room on as my new project 🙂

Happy Monday!

Dining Room Project!

10 Feb

We moved into our apartment at the beginning of August and we have yet to use our dining room. It’s just a room to leave junk in and pile things on the dining room table. The size of the room is very awkward so fitting the dining room table and chairs and everything in it was a pretty tight fit. I was kind of angry that we weren’t using it at all so I decided to turn the dining room table into a desk and kinda make the dining room MY room. Sam has his own little space and I didn’t really have an area of the apartment to call my own so, TA-DAAAA!

It’s still a work in progress but I thought I’d post pics, from beginning to where I am now 🙂

Yesterday when I started cleaning up the space, we still had our Christmas tree in here. SMH, what a shame. I started off with my laptop in the room but decided that I’d move my desktop computer in here instead. I like it a lot better. This weekend I plan on finally putting the curtains up and going shopping for some shelving or something. I might get another lamp also, because the overhead light is unbearable.

If you’ve done something like this please let me know! I’d love advice.

Nets -vs- BULLS!

10 Feb

On Monday night Sam and I made our way up to Newark, NJ to the Prudential Center for the New Jersey Nets vs Chicago Bulls basketball game. It was my first NBA game and Sam’s first Bulls game. He’s a BIG Bulls fan. We had a really good time. The stadium is gorgeous, by the way. And even though the food and beer were expensive, we still had a really good time. I definitely wanna get more tickets in the near future.

I got to see Kris Humphries play! After seeing him on Kourtney & Kim Take New York, it was crazy to see him actually playing basketball. And surprisingly, he’s one of the best players on his team. There was way more Bulls fans in the stands than there was Nets fans. It was kinda sad actually LOL..

But I just thought I’d share a few of the pictures that I took.

Full moon!

The full moon is looking pretty creepy tonight.

Just thought I’d share 🙂

It’s been too long!

First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I can’t believe it’s 2012 already, but I’m very blessed to be here with the ability to enjoy this new year in good health and surrounded by wonderful people. I couldn’t be happier.

I made a few resolutions this year, but I decided not to go crazy and obsess over them. I think that was my downfall in years past. One of my resolutions was to get more organized. I went to Target a couple days ago and went a little crazy.

I got binders, calendars, planners, sheet protectors, and highlighters. The giant calendar is to plan out meals and stuff for the week. I tend to go to the grocery store and buy enough food for only a couple meals and then I just stock the rest of the cart with junk. So I figured if I plan out the week’s meals in advance I’ll be able to make an appropriate shopping list and that way I’ll also cut down on all the junk food that I buy in replacement of actual meals. Not to mention I’ll only need to go to the store once a week instead of 2 or 3 times. The planners are for keeping track of bills and events. What’s happening when & what bills are due when. It’s come in handy already. It helps me figure out what I need to pay before I start spending my money on nonsense every month.  The highlighters are also for the planners. I’m able to color code events, tasks, bills, and so on. The binders are to organize all the bills I receive every month. I was really bad at keeping track of how much we were paying each month for certain things and now I can see if there is any fluctuation or increase. I hope to be one organized mofo in the next few months.

Another resolution of mine is to read more. I read a little bit last year, especially over the summer when I was unemployed. But I want to read a lot more this year. I’ve gotten great recommendations from co-workers of mine but I’m always open to more, so please help a girl out! I’m already two books down so far this year. I read The Second Time Around by Mary Higgins Clark and Sail by James Patterson. Both were amazing books! Took me a day to read each of them. I’m really into mysteries if you haven’t noticed- haha.

My last and final resolution is sooo damn cliche but… I want to lose weight. But this year I’m going to approach this resolution differently. I’m not going to obsess and do crazy shit like I’ve done in the past. I’m going to start by replacing one of my daily meals with a healthier choice. Then I’ll move to two meals a day and so on until I’m eating healthy all the time. I’m definitely going to exercise a few times a week with my new xbox kinect! I got the Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout game and have been kicking butt. I know I have at least 40 pounds to lose but I’m not going to let it overwhelm me. I’m going to do it one step at a time.

But that’s about it as far as resolutions go. I hope I can stay on track with all of them for awhile at least. If you’ve started a new years resolution, I wish you luck! They seem like a piece of cake at first but then by January 26th you’re about ready to pack it in. Stick it out and don’t get discouraged! You can do it!

Happy Monday!

As if Mondays aren’t bad enough…

3 Oct

I thought today was going to be a good day… Who was I kidding? Did I totally forget that it’s Monday?

Over the weekend I went out and got a pair of black stockings and a really cute pair of little black bootie heels. I wore them today with a black dress and a mustard yellow cardigan. I got dressed this morning and needless to say, I was definitely feeling myself. I felt really good about my outfit. I hardly ever get that dressed up for work. I get in the car and drive to Wawa and buy a pack of cigarettes and an old man with no front teeth held the door for me and said “good morning beautiful”. Not that I needed a toothless old man’s validation but it still made me smile.

I get back in the car and turn on some awesome music and drive my ass to work. AND… I ended up actually being on time, which is rare for a Monday morning. I’m walking through the lobby and there’s a group of 30 something year old guys standing about 20 feet from the elevator. Two of the five or six guys walk over to the elevator and push the button for the elevator to come down and pick me up. They say “hello”, I say “good morning”. They end up not even having to get on the elevator. They were just being courteous.

I get up to the third floor, walk down the hallway, into my office and sit down at my desk. Turned on my computer and was thinking that it was going to be a really good day. I reach down under my desk and fix the zipper on one of my heels and I run my hands up my leg to make sure that my stockings weren’t sagging or anything and then I feel it… The worst thing that could have happened. The thing I have been trying to prevent since I put the damn stockings on that morning. A FUCKING HUGE RUNNER! Right behind my knee. It was like 6+ inches long and I felt like sinking under my desk and hiding. I was so mad cuz I knew that something like this was going to happen. I knew that if I tried to dress cute to work that something would back fire.

Then I sat there for a minute thinking about everyone that I saw so far that morning and what they probably thought when they saw the gigantic hole on the back of my leg. The guys downstairs that so kindly caught the elevator for me probably thought I was a damn train wreck. And that poor, old, toothless man at Wawa probably thought that I was a fucking whore. Oh my gosh. I knew I couldn’t walk around with a big hole in my stockings all day so I talked to my boss and she allowed me to go home and get changed. I was soooo freakin grateful.

When I finally got back to work, I got trapped in the elevator for like 5 minutes. Terrifying!

Just wasn’t my day today, apparently.

Ummm.. Hello?!

28 Sep

To make a long story short, Sam hurt his back at work. Like, really hurt his back. He’s been in excruciating pain for the past 24 hours. He kept me up all night last night while he moaned (and not in a good way) and tossed around trying to find a position to ease the pain. But, like the good wife I am, I’ve been taking care of him. Went and bought him Ben & Jerry’s, made him the dinner that he wanted, rubbed Icey Hot on all the pain, got packs of ice. Everything. This morning he wakes up and is still in pain. I was running late for work but still made time to help him out of bed, made sure he took some ibuprofen, and made sure that he didn’t need to go to the hospital. As I’m getting dressed he picks up the phone. I’m thinking that he’s about to call work and let them know that he was still in pain and wouldn’t be able to make it in today. The first person that he called was HIS MOMMY! WTF!?

Talk about momma’s boy! Sheesh.
